Talking without speaking (2023-)

An ongoing project with support from Trafo.

Talking without speaking is an ongoing project where I photograph everyday objects that have become protest symbols. The objects can be connected to a historical period, a rights struggle or a country. Some have been intentionally brought to the streets to support a cause, while others unexpectedly found their place in the public sphere, revealing their symbolic power over time.

The objects are a gateway to learning about social rights struggles, attacks on freedom of expression, and various forms of protest.

The installation featured includes photographs licensed under Creative Commons encased in album-like split sheets and paper that highlights the vibrant signal colors of the objects.
